The Royal Kitchen Residency Project (KRP)

In collaboration with Dånk! Collective, the Royal Kitchen Residency Project (KRP) offers a project programme for practising artists who want to work on an artistic project within visual or sound art during the month of August 2008 in the city of Göteborg. Application deadline: 15 June

KRP is a field of experimentation and a place for new ideas and expressions. The project consists of independent studies with help by local and international artists in the field of visual and sound arts. The studies are individually designed and the study period planned together with a work team based on the applicant’s project. The student will be provided with a residency in the kitchen of the founders (equipped with bed, Internet, drawer etc) and 24 hours access to a 205 square meters studio, in an industrial building from the 19th century. The aim of the project programme is to give an opportunity for practising artists to gain new skills and at the same time exchange some of their skills with the (KRP). As part of the programme, the artist in residency will have the opportunity to show the final result in an artist run gallery in the city of Göteborg such as an open conference to exchange ideas and discuss further projects.

APPLICATION
Residents will be selected from an open call, based on the quality of the work or research being proposed, the availability of the necessary tools and skills to support the work. The applicant should have a degree in art or similar and be a working artist. Application for the Kitchen Residency 2008 must be submitted to the offices of the KRP no later than June 15, 2008. (Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted. No exceptions will be made. Incomplete applications will not be considered.)

Complete applications must include the following information:
- Contact information and CV (pdf doc);
- Work samples in the form of URLs or by sending in samples of work (photographs, transparencies, CD, DVD, video, etc) together with a written description of the project to develop at the (KRP).
- Passport size photography.
