Supa dupa Japanese electronic music artist Kanta Horio was in Sweden this month and played in Göteborg and Stockholm!
Kanta Horio is part of a new generation of live electronic musicians in Japan who aren’t afraid to experiment. Electricity, magnetism and mechanics are Kanta Horio’s specialities, and his audio-visual concerts can be described as poetic lab-experiments in Physics and Acoustics. In Tokyo, Kanta is a forefront figure of the local experimental music and electronic arts scene, and runs Dorkbot-Tokyo among other things.
As Kanta-san was already going to be in Europe around the end of April, we took this opportunity to invite him to play in Sweden too. Kanta has toured extensively around the world - Canada, USA, Spain, Mexico, Belgium, Scotland, etc - but this is the first time he will be playing in Sweden! The Swedish mini-tour that we booked for him included the following events:
- Kanta-san talked at Göteborg’s very first Dorkbot event on 2nd May at 15.00 (more info here)
- On 3rd May at 13.00, he played a free concert and constructed a sound installation live at Röhsska Museet in Göteborg - in collaboration with Koloni (see flyer below)
- And on 4th May, he and our very own Alex Berman (aka Nim) played at Fringe-sthlm in Stockholm.

These were unique opportunities to see one of Japan’s most talented experimental artists live, and we hope he will come back to Sweden very soon!
Kanta was also interviewed at Dorkbot by the local Swedish Radio SR P4 Göteborg and was featured in the radio programme Mitt i Musiken on the national SR radio stations P1 and P2.
