Congratulations to the Inclusiva-net project “In Hear Out There: AZCA” for winning a prize from the Spanish Ministry of Culture! This project was developed during the 2nd Inclusiva-net meeting - digital networks and physical space - at Medialab Prado in Madrid, last March. It aurally/visually transposes, fits and juxtaposes an environment, a path, a locale from one place to the visitor’s place – placing them within a hybrid space. this locative art installation is an “interactive scaffolding anchored to the central space of AZCA” - a district of Madrid - that creates “intensive experiences related to certain urban memories of the citizens’ transience through the park, taking into account distinct unbuilt urban projects, which were designed in past decades with the aim of demonstrating the most modern, progressive, civic (European) space in Spain”. It was exhibited during 2 months in Madrid, where visitors could borrow hand-held computers from Medialab Prado and go to AZCA to experience the IHOT hybrid space.
On 3rd June, In Hear, Out There won 2nd prize in the “Coordinates: Stages of Change” category of 2008 Culturas, an exhibition and award competition for short films, photography, video art and net art about the theme of Intercultural Dialogue. 2008 Culturas is an initiative of the Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales (SECC), attached to the Ministry of Culture of Spain, to celebrate the International European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, as part of a framework of series of activities organized by the European Union countries for the occasion.
